Slim Bean ROM Nexus 4 E960 – Bloatware Free Androite How To

Without a doubt, the Nexus 4 has a lot of amazing features. However, there are many apps included that are not often used. For those who are familiar with custom ROMs would know about the function of Slim Bean custom ROM. For those who are new, it removes the bloatware in simple words. It’s now available for model number E960.

Slim Bean brings features (AOKP & CyanogenMod), lower DPI, multi-DPI Play Store app, updates for SupoerSU & HoloLauncherHD and bug fixes for Face Unlock and Google Now. The credit for the release goes to XDA Developers member krarvind. You may still face issues as it’s still in the early stages.

Before moving on with the tutorial, it should be noted the guide can be applied only on model E960, and not on other Nexus models. Charging the battery properly is also recommended by Android Tuition. If you’ve decided to go ahead with the tutorial, make sure you’re using a PC with Windows OS. Security softwares can be turned off as they may interfere with the process. Please follow each and every step at your own will. We will not pay any damages if anything unfortunate happens. Nexus 4 gets bloatware free custom ROM from XDA Developers – tutorial for androites

Step 1: Root the device, unlock bootloader and install custom ClockworkMod recovery. Here’s the toolkit.

Step 2: Download Slim Bean ROM, Gapps package and Jelly Bean Launcher.

Step 3: Copy both the three files downloaded in the previous step to the internal SD Card of the phone.

Step 4: Power off E960, and reboot in recovery. Open Fastboot mode by pressing the Power and Volume Down buttons, and keep them pressed until Start appears on the display. Navigate to the option of recovery with Volume keys and select it with the Power button.

Step 5: Choose Backup > Restore. Next, go for selection of Backup. The existing ROM will be backed up through a Nandroid backup.

Step 6: Perform a full wipe by selecting wipe data/factory reset. Confirm the action by selecting Yes. Now select wipe Cache partition and allow the action similarly. Lastly, select Advanced, wipe Dalvik cache and confirm the action.

Step 7: Search for the Slim Bean ROM by selecting install zip from SD Card > choose zip from SD Card. Select the ‘.zip’ file and confirm the action.

Step 8: Now install the Gapps package and Jelly Bean launcher in a similar way as in the previous step.

Step 9: Once everything is done, select Go Back > Reboot system now.
