  • Charge the model you are using properly. A good battery percentage would be 80.
  • You should be on a Windows PC with handset USB drivers installed for the device.

  • USB Debugging enabled is also a requirement.
  • Backup is always a wise thing to create. You can create one, and save the data in external cloud.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Chainfire CF-Auto-Root GT-N7100/N7105 — steps to root

Step 1: Download Odin3 v3.04 and CF-Auto-Root for GT-N7100 or GT-N7105.

Step 2: Extract the Odin zip file downloaded in the step above to any desired folder of the PC. You’ll get a few system files along with the Odin ‘.exe’ file.

Step 3: Unzip the root package for your Note II model. You’ll obtain a ‘.tar.md5’ file, which will be necessary later.

Step 4: Switch off the phablet.

Step 5: Boot the phabet into Download mode. To perform this function, hold down the Power, Home and Volume Down buttons at the same time. A warning screen will pop up, which is where you press the Volume Up button to proceed to the Download mode.

Step 6: Start Odin, and connect the device to the PC with a USB cable. Odin is going to display an ‘Added’ message in its message box located at the bottom left corner of the screen. No message means the drivers were not installed correctly, and you should try re-installing them.

Step 7: Click the button that says ‘PDA’ in Odin. Now select the ‘.tar.md5’ unzipped earlier. Leave everything else unchanged in Odin.

Step 8: Click on the button that says ‘Start’. A ‘Pass’ message will be displayed in the tool window’s left corner at the top, which means the installation was successful. Once the installation is complete, the device will reboot automatically. You can now unplug the device.

Step 9: If a ‘FAIL’ message appears instead of the ‘PASS’ one, close Odin, unplug the device and switch it off. Take out the battery repeat and place it again in the phablet. Now repeat the tutorial from step 5.

You’ve just rooted the Samsung Galaxy Note II phablet GT-N7100/GT-N7105 with Chainfire’s CF-Auto-Root. Feel free to leave comments. (Source: XDA)
